Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly (LBFE) is a national network of non-profit, volunteer-based organizations committed to relieving isolation and loneliness among the elderly.
"I have always had a desire for tending to the needs of the elderly, a segment of our population often neglected. The dedication of the LBFE staff and volunteers interacting with elderly who are alone and isolated provides motivation, inspiration and joy in my life."
Jack leads the Board of Directors and is primarily involved in holiday parties, meal deliveries and special events. Jack is a Religious Brother with the Glenmary Home Missioners currently serving as second Vice President of the organization.
"I had always enjoyed visiting with the elderly and found LBFE in an on–line search to fill a void after my parents passed. Initially, I was looking for a way to help others, but instead I gained far more personal enrichment and growth from volunteering with LBFE."
Cathy began volunteering in late 2004 for holidays and outings and later became a Visiting Volunteer for several special friends. She is retired from The Procter & Gamble Company where she worked in recruiting, benefits administration, and human resources.
"I began helping my wife make deliveries on major holidays in 2005. As I developed friendships with Cathy's special elderly friends, I became their "go to" guy for minor household repair and yard work projects, which I enjoy. I soon realized that there was a niche for everyone at Little Brothers. In 2009, I broadened my volunteer experience by assisting the staff with financial reports."
Marc brings over 30 years of experience from positions as an education administrator, marketing analyst, and church Finance Chair to his current position as LBFE Treasurer and Finance Committee member.
"I enjoy onboarding new volunteers. I know if they have a good start to their experience with Little Brothers they are more likely to stay with us and to enjoy their time with the elderly."
While Kathy is retired from Procter and Gamble, she has been enjoying retirement by staying very busy with volunteer work.
